We all know La Mer and the price tag it comes with (USD 175 for 30ml, USD 325 for 60ml). Much as I would have loved to try it out, even asking Sephora for a sample never crossed my mind. But I got this in mail today :) #influencerperks :)

Here's a summary from Sephora:

Which skin type is it good for? ✔ Normal ✔ Oily ✔ Combination ✔ Dry ✔ Sensitive

What it is: An ultra-rich moisturizing cream that creates an instant dewy finish.

Solutions for: - Dryness - Pores - Dullness and uneven texture

If you want to know more… There’s a La Mer moisturizer for every complexion. Infused with cell-supporting Miracle Broth™, these celebrated moisturizers visibly soothe, plump, and smooth away fine lines as a natural new radiance is revealed. Discover the soothing moisture best suited to your skin’s potential.

This highly coveted moisturizer is known for its power to hydrate and improve dryness in as little as three days. Miracle Broth™ helps skin appear softer, nourished, soothed, and energized, while the powerful antioxidant lime tea protects against stress and pollution for a healthy-looking glow. Skin looks radiant and naturally balanced as imperfections fade.

What it is formulated WITHOUT: - Parabens - Sulfates

What else you need to know: The iconic opal jar is hand-filled within eight hours of the Crème’s creation.

Miracle Broth is at the heart of La Mer and is infused into every treatment in the collection. This elixir is formulated with hand-harvested sea kelp and other nutrients and minerals unlocked via a natural fermentation process. Surging with vital energies, it supports the five facets of natural healing: moisture, regeneration, soothing, smoothing, and radiance—which help to bring skin back to its healthiest state.

What I think

Wow, what a game changer! It actually hydrates my face in this brutal cold when the wind whiplashes my face. I felt hydrating but not oily when I used this in the morning. I went through office, grocery and gym with it and was perfectly happy to not bother about skincare or dryness the entire day.

However, as days passed by and we got a bit of sun despite the dreary winter of Midwest, it became clear to me that it is not meant for my excessively oily skin. If I was not using my holy grail serum from The Ordinary, the cream itself made my pores super big and that caused excessive oil to flood my face and break me out.

Conclusion

I did understand why some people swear by it. It did moisturize and kept me hydrated. But it's just not meant for my over-the-top oily skin and just made my pores bigger without a good serum acting as a primer beneath it
